Regulation Ordinance No. 2020-130 (Reestablishing of Parking Areas and Parking Fees)

Iloilo City Updates Parking Regulations to Improve Traffic Management

Sponsored by Atty. Romel Duron

Iloilo City has enacted Regulation Ordinance No. 2020-130, sponsored by Atty. Romel Duron, to amend existing parking rules and introduce updated fees for vehicles using designated parking areas in the downtown district. The ordinance establishes clear parking zones, including streets like Calasanz, Ortiz, and Guanco, and imposes structured fees based on vehicle type: PHP 15 for motorcycles, PHP 20 for tricycles, and PHP 25 for light vehicles (sedans, SUVs, etc.) for the first two hours, with an additional PHP 5 per succeeding hour. Overnight parking and unauthorized parking violations now carry steeper penalties, with fines increased to PHP 1,000 to deter abuse and ensure compliance.

Atty. Duron emphasized that this measure aims to streamline traffic flow, optimize limited parking space, and generate revenue for local infrastructure projects. The Public Safety and Transportation Management Office (PSTMO) will oversee enforcement, while the City Treasurer or authorized private entities will handle fee collection. By modernizing parking policies, Iloilo City seeks to reduce congestion, enhance public safety, and create a more orderly urban environment for residents and visitors alike.
